The Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD) 2026 summit commenced today at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana, bringing together political leaders, policymakers, business executives, and development partners to advance continental economic integration.
A major highlight of the opening session was the launch of the “Make Africa Borderless Now!” initiative by the Africa Prosperity Network, aimed at reducing structural and administrative barriers to trade across African borders.
Advancing AfCFTA Implementation
Organisers said the initiative is designed to accelerate the practical implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by addressing customs bottlenecks, regulatory inconsistencies, and non-tariff barriers that continue to limit intra-African trade.
Speakers emphasized that while AfCFTA provides a legal framework for integration, real economic transformation depends on political will, coordinated policy execution, and private-sector participation.
Trade, Mobility, and Economic Growth
The Make Africa Borderless Now! campaign focuses on improving trade logistics, harmonising standards, and enhancing the free movement of goods and services. Advocates argue that lowering barriers will strengthen regional value chains, boost industrialisation, and unlock economic opportunities across the continent.
The APD 2026 summit is expected to feature high-level discussions on trade finance, infrastructure development, and investment strategies aligned with Africa’s long-term growth objectives.
